Our Leonotis Flowers come straight from their native land of South Africa where the Khoikhoi tribes have been using them in their traditional medicine for generations.
The Khoikhoi use Leonotis Flowers to treat snake bites, scorpion and bee stings, coughs, colds dysentery, influenza, tuberculosis, is used as purgative and also as a charm to keep snakes away.
The plant itself can grow to 8 feet tall, but it is the distinctive bright orange tubular flowers that it derives its name from, (Greek Leon:Lion and Otis:Ear), in fact Leonotis goes by several names; Wild Dagga, Lions Ear, and Cape Hemp.
Smoking Leonotis is said to induce a mild euphoria. Smoking the flowers is more pleasant than the leaves which are quite harsh though most folk tend to mix the two.
The leaves are best brewed as a tea which when drank can be very calming, and if drank before sleeping is said to lead to a very deep sleep with amazing dreams.
